Product Story New York Rose is inspired by an 1898 binding of Prue & I by George William Curtis, brought to Paperblanks through its partnership with The New York Public Library. The original binding was produced by the Club Bindery, a New York design house founded by members of the Grolier Club to bring the tradition of fine European-style bookbinding to the United States.
Cascading floral garlands, gold embellishment-inspired details, and a rich purple ground give this design the feeling of a treasured volume from a private library. Once owned by William Augustus Spencer and now held by The New York Public Library, the original book connects this planner to a layered story of literature, collecting, craftsmanship, and the preservation of beautiful books.
