Product Story The MD Notebook is built around a simple idea: writing comes first. Instead of adding layers, MIDORI removed them. There is no hard cover—only MD Paper used consistently from the first page to the last, including the cover and endpapers. The result feels cohesive in hand and quiet on the desk.
The thread-stitched binding, reinforced with a visible cheesecloth spine, allows the notebook to open fully flat without forcing it. You can write across a spread or rest your hand anywhere on the page without resistance. This becomes noticeable over time, especially in a slim format like B6, where proportion and balance matter.
MD Paper has been refined since the 1960s to handle ink with control. Lines remain sharp, with minimal bleed-through or feathering, even with wetter pens. It’s a surface that supports writing rather than influencing it.
