Founded in London in 1901, Sangorski & Sutcliffe bookbinding company gained prominence as one of the most influential bookbinding firms of the 20th century. 

The exquisite binding reproduced on Paperblanks Hafiz's Peacocks notebook collection was originally designed in 1910 to contain a collection of poems by renowned Persian poet Hafiz. The gilded age design was adorned in red and green Levant morocco with luxurious leather joints and flyleaves. The original binding featured three striking peacocks and was  embellished with pearls and 33 opals, the height of opulence.
