TRAVELER’S COMPANY Brand Story

You believe the best journeys often start on a blank page. That’s exactly why TRAVELER’S COMPANY created the TRAVELER’S notebook—a beautifully simple, endlessly customizable journal that grows more “you” with every mile and every morning coffee.

The Beginning of TRAVELER’S notebook

Launched in 2006 with five refill types (and joined by the ultra-portable Passport Size in 2009), TRAVELER’S notebook keeps its design purposefully minimal so you can make it your own. The refillable leather cover is hand-cut in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It’s intentionally cut with character, secured by an elastic band and a petite tin clasp that makes swapping refills effortless. Inside, you’ll write on Japanese-made MD Paper—developed by Designphil for exceptional smoothness and ink performance—so your fountain pen, gel pen, or pencil feels at home.

The Harmony of Materials

That harmony—rugged leather from Thailand, refined paper from Japan—is the soul of the system. Over time, your cover softens, takes on a deeper tone, and records the gentle scuffs of daily life and distant travels. Refills slide in and out as your seasons change: grid pages for planning, blank pages for sketching, lined pages for journaling, plus zipper pockets, folders, and more. Slip in maps, tickets, or notes; the travel-friendly size fits neatly in your tote without weighing you down.

Beyond the Notebook

TRAVELER’S COMPANY expanded the creative ecosystem in 2010 with Brass Products and Spiral Ring Notebooks, then opened TRAVELER’S FACTORY in Tokyo’s Nakameguro neighborhood in 2011—a community hub that celebrates making, mending, and meaningful paper goods. TRAVELER’S FACTORY AIRPORT followed at Narita International Airport in 2014, and TRAVELER’S FACTORY STATION opened in Tokyo Station in 2017; you’ll also find TRAVELER’S FACTORY KYOTO at ShinPuhKan in Kyoto. In 2015 the brand name formally shifted from MIDORI to TRAVELER’S COMPANY—signaling a commitment to the theme of “travel” as something you can experience every day, not just when your passport is stamped.

A Companion for Everyday Journeys

Whether you’re journaling between meetings, sketching on a weekend train, or planning your next big idea, your TRAVELER’S notebook becomes a companion as individual as you are. Add a charm to the band, tuck a photo inside, or let a favorite sticker mark a moment. The more you use it, the more its patina reflects your life—and inspires the next page.

From refillable leather notebooks to Kraft Envelopes, Brass Products, and Spiral Ring Notebooks, every item in the collection invites you to roam, create, and write freely. The more you use them, the more they reflect your journey—and inspire the next page.

FAQs

Your TRAVELER’S notebook is made from vegetable-tanned leather, so each
cover shows natural marks and develops a rich patina over time. If it
gets wet, gently blot with a soft dry cloth and let it air-dry in the
shade. Avoid water, cleaners, or solvents, and store in a cool, dry
place. A little leather cream can be used if you’d like to minimize
scratches or keep the surface supple—just test on a hidden spot first.
Over the years, the color will deepen and scratches will blend in,
creating a one-of-a-kind look that reflects your journey.

Brass is made to last and to change beautifully with use. To maintain
your TRAVELER’S COMPANY brass pens and desk tools, gently wipe them with
a soft microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and daily marks. If you’d like to restore the shine, you can use a gentle brass or metal polish
— just test it first on an inconspicuous area to be sure you like the
effect. Many users prefer to skip polishing and let the brass naturally
develop a warm patina, a living finish that reflects your touch and
travels.
