Product Story The design is based on the Spinola Hours, an illuminated manuscript created in Belgium around 1510–1520. Known for its naturalistic detail and richly decorated pages, the manuscript shows how a personal prayer book could also become an extraordinary work of visual art.
A book of hours typically includes a calendar of Church holidays, prayers, hymns, readings and devotional texts. The Spinola Hours goes further with additional weekday offices and masses, giving its illuminators even more room for intricate borders, color and layered detail. Paperblanks reproduces one of those pages here as part of its collaboration with the J. Paul Getty Museum.
