The Poetry in Bloom design is based on a fine bookbinding created by Rivière and Son for The Sensitive Plant and Early Poems by Percy Bysshe Shelley. At the center is the sensitive plant, sometimes called the “shy” plant because its leaves fold away from touch and close in darkness before opening again to light.
Surrounded by snowdrops, flowers, foliage and butterflies, the cover brings together botanical detail and literary history in a design that feels rich but not overly formal.
